When Andrew Jackson was president, he was siginng an official document one day when an aide leaned over his shoulder and quietly informed him that a word in the document was misspelled. Ol' Hickory reflected momentarily and then said, It's a poor mind that can think of but one way to spell a word. Same could be said for pronounciation.
